What is an Indian Head Massage?

This wonderful massage can be given to aid the process of injury healing, relieve psychological stress, manage pain and improve circulation.
The effectiveness of Indian head massage, also known as Champissage, is based on alternative medicine principles, specifically those surrounding energy flow or chakras. It’s an ancient technique that was used as Ayurvedic medicine in India since 4000 years ago and it’s becoming more and more popular here in the Western world.

Depending on your needs, this massage can either be relaxing or invigorating. While you are seated and fully clothed, the Practitioner works on your upper back, shoulders, head, neck, and scalp, with soothing and refreshing movements.

The basic goal of an Indian Head massage is to release stress and fatigue, minimize / remove head tension, improve circulation, relieve tightness in muscles, aid in sleeping, positively affect general health, promote healthy hair growth and bring balance to mind/body and spirit.

By focusing pressure on the nerve endings in the head, blood flow is improved which increases healing throughout the body. Stimulation of the lymphatic drainage also occurs thereby helping the body to get rid of toxins effectively, restoring muscle tone and improving joint movements. The head massage will help to restore balance in the energy flow of your body, leaving you with a feeling of peace and tranquility.

What to expect from an Indian Head Massage.

A complete Indian head massage will take 45 minutes. Your Practitioner will talk with you beforehand and go over a questionnaire to get an idea of any particular aches, pains or ailments you may have. She may ask you if you are having any medical treatments or taking medicines, as this might affect type of pressure and technique.
