What is Hynotherapy?

When you first think of hypnosis, perhaps a mysterious gentleman comes to mind. He’s swinging a watch in front of someone’s eyes telling them:” You’re getting very, very sleepy”.

This image is great for the movies and entertainment, but they definitely don’t represent what hypnosis is all about.

Mindfulmatters Hypnotherapists are trained, skilled social service practitioners, with over 20 years experience in the field, who are able to use hypnosis as a safe and effective means to remove unwanted habits, behaviours and health concerns.

Just think of the times that you tried to overcome a fear or habit, only to have it re-occur. Well, this is because the foundation of your problem lies in your subconscious, which governs your habits and behaviour, and your Hypnotherapist reaches this level.

With hypnosis, you will be able to make some effective changes in your life quickly. The hypnotic state is an optimum one for making changes in your life because you will be able to set aside limiting beliefs that may have been preventing you from moving toward a more healthy and happy you.


How does Hypnotherapy work?

While you are deeply relaxed, your Hypnotherapist makes suggestions, which are agreeable to you, about what changes you are ready to make in your life. You visualize these changes and, after the session is complete, you naturally act on the suggestions to achieve your goals.

Fact: You’re in total control. Because you’re in a relaxed state and your mind is free of that 24 hour/day “chatter” you’re even more in control of your thoughts. This is important, because the Hypnotherapist works with you to make positive changes.

Fact: You’ll never do anything that you don’t want to do in a session. Morals, beliefs and values are never compromised. In a hypnotic state, you cannot be made to do anything against your will. People in stage shows act foolish because they volunteered to do just that. They know that they’d be asked to do silly things and because it’s and environment for entertainment, they’re willing to be silly. But if asked to do anything that goes against their values, they would immediately refuse and come out of the hypnotic state.

Have a Hypnotherapy Session

Theresa will sit with you and review what hypnosis is all about and why it’s so effective. She’ll answer your questions and illustrate how you’ll be in total control at all times and that you’ll hear everything.

When you’re ready, Theresa will walk you through a process that will completely relax you (you won’t want it to end because it feels so wonderful) and will work with your subconscious in order to receive the suggestions for change that you want.

Those wishing to stop smoking or lose weight require a minimum of three sessions. Other issues and phobias can often be removed in one session.

The first session is approximately 2 hours in length. The cost is $140.00 per session.
